Breaking the mold!

It’s amazing how changing your perspective allows you to see everything. I was born, raised and still live in these mountains. As I have sat with myself healing traumas, I have come to see how deep our trauma runs. You realize from the beginning of time we all have been getting it wrong and how that with each generation we have tried to make it better. When I mention trauma to someone who doesn’t know the depth of trauma, they automatically become defensive of their life and upbringing.  But in order to heal trauma you have to become aware of it. We all have it and it plays out in our lives, in our relationships with ourselves, family, friends, work and so on.  On a healing path you remove yourself from being any of those things and begin to rebuild who you truly are without the baggage and that is what I am currently doing with my life. I am creating a new way of being for myself for the ones I will leave behind one day. I have been able to end generational trauma with my own healing and I can see how to end it for us all. Being able to sit and have healing conversations about trauma with your family is profound when you are aware. You learn a lot about yourself through them and instead of casting blame you understand that they did the best they could with what they were aware of! Ignorance is a word I loathed, but now have came to embrace it. See ignorance is a lack of knowing and that’s ok because you can always learn. To have a knowing means you can take yourself away from the same mindsets of survival and emotional turmoil that our families have lived in for so long. I am proud to be an Appalachian Woman breaking the molds and paving ways for generations to come. We don’t just have to survive anymore we can thrive!
